After ten years in the game the priorities haven’t changed for franchisees

“My name is John Grant and I have been a Eurodebt franchisee for the previous ten years and I am currently applying to have my franchise renewed for a further five years. I operate within the Kent area although I also have an introducer who operates from Enfield, London, and  I will often visit his premises to see his clients. This has been an ongoing relationship and I have worked with Yusuf Cicek from the Cicek Group now for over three years.  I would like to feel that this has been of benefit not only to both Yusuf and I, but also to his clients.

“During the previous ten years as a franchisee I have seen many changes within the group. As most people who know me would confirm, I do not always accept change easily. However, I have seen the business grow and develop over the years from a small family run business to what it is today; a national brand with over 70 franchisees throughout the country.  I can still remember the first client I signed up and, hopefully, helped.

“What I liked about Eurodebt when I joined ten years ago was the fact that the main priority instilled into us on the initial training was to ‘help the client’; doing what is best for the client for their circumstances at the time. I am pleased to say that even now this still remains the case and with the addition of the compliance team to Eurodebt I believe that this will rightfully remain as the main priority.

“With the changes in the financial climate that are happening on a daily basis I believe that more and more people are struggling to pay their debt instalments. They have loan companies chasing them at home and at work, they have to borrow from ‘Peter’ to pay ‘Paul’, and have nothing left halfway through the month with the pressure getting them down.  This was the message I was getting from new clients ten years ago, and it remains the same today.

“I believe that we offer a valuable service to clients. We act on their behalf by entering into negotiations with their creditors, with a view to obtaining agreements from each of the client’s creditors to accept a more affordable level of monthly payments from the clients.  The overall aim of Eurodebt is to enable the clients to regain control of their finances, and to ultimately become debt free.

“The most important strength of Eurodebt is that we still attend to every prospective client in either their home or a location that not only suits them, but one they feel comfortable in. I also believe that we need to have a great empathy and understanding of our clients and the position they find themselves in. In many cases it is not of their making, but a change in their personal circumstances that have caused the problems with their finances. This would normally be illness, bereavement, separation or loss of income - most of which is beyond our clients control, they just have to deal with the circumstances.

“This is the message that we must try and get through to potential clients. It is better to contact us before the situation gets out of hand with the creditors, as it is normally easier to assist them if they have not already fallen out with them.  Sooner or later they all realise the debts or the creditors are not going away if they do nothing. It is something they have to deal with and the sooner they deal with it, hopefully by contacting ourselves, the better for all concerned.”
