From investment banker to debt advisor: EuroDebt welcomes new franchisee

Surrey-based debt advisor, Jason Peace, has become the latest addition to the EuroDebt Financial Services franchise.

Jason, who has moved into the debt advice sector after spending 16 years in the world of investment banking, once worked for the collapsed Icelandic bank Landsbanki, so has good knowledge of debt problems and the devastating effects they can have.
                                    Jason Peace
He is now offering debt advice and debt solutions in the Surrey and Berkshire area, helping those struggling to organise their finances, as well as negotiating with their creditors.
“The majority of my work is in Slough,” Jason says, “I’ve been working with local financial advisors and have joined networks so that I can reach out to as many people as possible. It’s great to be able to help.”
Remembering a recent case, he recounts: “I saw a man recently who was so worried about his debts that he hadn’t slept for a week. I arranged a Debt Management Plan for him, and just seeing the relief on his face was very rewarding.”
This may seem quite a jump from investment banking overseas – Jason also spent two years working in Bermuda – but the ex-banker said he was keen on the franchise idea.
“I was looking to work on my own terms and do something which used my skills in finance,” he explains. “EuroDebt have been very supportive, from the first meeting, through the training and afterwards, they’re everything I expected them to be.

“Being a debt advisor is very different from my previous roles though - I even spent some time working for a spread betting firm, which is a type of gambling and can be blamed for some people's debt problems.”

However, Jason seems to have truly turned over a new leaf, even joining up with his local church to offer debt solutions to the community.

“That's one of the best parts of the job for me - helping people and getting involved in my local area. When I used to commute to London I'd set off at 6 in the morning and come home at 7 o’clock at night, I didn't even know my neighbours, now I'm helping them with their finances.”

But teaming up with a church?

“I know,” he laughs. “People go to find God and get me instead, but the people there have said I'm an 'answer to their prayers' as they've needed someone to help out with the financial side of people's worries for a long time now.”
